What are the ideal safari weather conditions for your next African Safari Tour

You may like to know the ideal safari weather conditions for your next African safari tour. At the end of the day, it really depends on your preference, eg if you prefer cold nights or plenty of rain, sparce vegetation or high daily temperatures, here are some pointers:-

The sub-tropical South African Lowveld has very mild winters and hot summers.

Our area, Elephants Drift, has sparse to moderate rainfall of about 350mm per year – almost all of which falls over the hot summer months of December to March. Spring and Autumn are characterised by mild temperatures and very occasional rain. The winter months (May to August) are dry with chilly nights and warm days.

The sparse rain that does fall normally comes as thundershowers which usually clear up quickly. Typical winter days have temperatures that peak in the mid to high 20’s (Celsius) and fall into the low teens at night. In summer the daily temperature reaches the mid 30’s and falls at night to about 20 degrees C.
